The charity foundation “For Development of Ukraine” provided 40 million dollars to fight cancer diseases. The president, People’s Deputy, Party of Regions parliamentary faction member Rinat Akhmetov stated about this, “IMK” reports.
“On the one hand there are high-skilled physicians in Ukraine nowadays but on the other we have limited technical capacities. In the USA more people have cancer than in Ukraine while the mortality is lower. Why? Because they invest much in early diagnostics and timely treatment. Therefore, I made a decision to assign 40 million dollars to fight cancer diseases. Out of them 20 million dollars will be allocated in Donbass, 10 million - in the National Institute of Cancer and 10 million - in Western Ukraine”, Rinat Akhmetov pointed out.
He also mentioned that high-technology equipment will be purchased for the provided money. It could be used in oncology, radiology and neurology.
Two devices of positron emission tomography (PET) facility will appear in Ukraine for the first time, which will enable to receive unique diagnostic information and change tactic of treatment, cutting down its costs. One device will be located in the National Institute of Cancer in Kyiv. It will be allotted for free use by people from all regions of Ukraine. The second PET device will function in Donbass and will enable to provide services for patients from Eastern and Southern Ukraine.
