People’s Deputy, Party of Regions parliamentary faction member, Minister on Extraordinary Situations of the Opposition government Nestor Shufrich is going to appeal to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine for examination of the legitimacy of a number of decisions made by leaders of the Ministry on extraordinary situations and protection of population from the Chornobyl catastrophe consequences.

During the yesterday's press conference the Party of Regions MP supposed that the current leaders of the Ministry on Extraordinary Situations are involved in corruption activity. In particular, the Member of Parliament said: “I will appeal to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine so that the work of commercial firm “Salt LTD” would be clarified and examined. Nowadays it provides a number of consulting services on behalf of allegedly the Department on Fire Security of the Ministry of Extraordinary Situations”.

Nestor Shufrich pointed out that there are serious doubts over rightness of this company’s estimations regarding fire security of a number of units, thereafter having explained: “It means that in case of ignition a degree of protection for these units (the matter concerns shopping centers where a lot of people are) will be considerably less than the fire security regulations require. We can only suppose what is behind such agreements”.

In addition, the Minister of the Opposition government is disturbed by the situation concerning Pozhspetsmash enterprise which operates in the Chernigiv region. “It is one of the largest enterprises in its time which supplied the USSR countries with fire equipment”, N.Shufrich underlined. According to him, in 2007 the Ministry on Extraordinary Situations managed to “revive this enterprise” and liquidate all its debts. “I am going to appeal to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine so that the circumstances, which might have led to intentional bankruptcy of the enterprise, would be examined”, Nestor Shufrich promised.

Communicating with journalists, he also mentioned the graveness of the situation with a boom in poaching in the Chornobyl area as well as expressed his indignation about the confidentiality of information concerning tender purchases of the department. “I will make an ad hoc interpellation to the Ministry on Extraordinary Situations about the furnishing of information... If it is rejected I will have to address the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Control and Revision Office of the Ministry of Finance”, the politician underlined.
