People’s Deputy, the Party of Regions parliamentary faction member Hanna Herman, commenting in an interview to journalists on today's speech of the Head of the state, said that President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko excessively dramatized the events occurring in Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Hanna Herman named the President’s speech “weak, not national and having no prospects for his political career”. “It was amazing to hear from the President that the decisions approved yesterday by Parliament bear the threat to Ukraine’s national interests. It is difficult to figure out what Yushchenko meant”, she said.

According to the People’s Deputy, Viktor Yushchenko excessively dramatizes the situation speaking about the events occurred in Parliament September 2.

Hanna Herman underlined that the Party of Regions both yesterday and today has waited for appearance of President Yushchenko in Parliament. “Yesterday we waited for the President in Verkhovna Rada. Today we are also waiting for the President because the Head of the state sees that the events which might be unclear for him take place, - that it is necessary to accomplish the political reform, to make the branches of power independent among themselves, to forge democratic processes. If the President does not comprehend such things, he should come to Parliament to meet the deputies, speak to them and be not afraid of expressing his view”, she said.

“He should not lock himself up in his cabinet and read from the monitor some appeals to the people. He should just come to the people as he did in 2004. In 2004 it was indeed “Tak!” (Yes!), and today it is “Tak sebe!” (So-so!), the politician added.

Besides, Hanna Herman noted that the Party of Regions considered that the NU-NS quitting the coalition should be announced not by President Viktor Yushchenko, but by the leader of this faction and by its deputies. The president should not take too much upon himself. The President is neither a commander of the deputies nor a commander of Parliament. He should wait until this process ripens (the NU-NS quitting the coalition – Ed.)”, she said.

According to the People’s Deputy, if the coalition will terminate its existence de jure, there will be two scenarios for the course of events: either the pre-term elections or forming “a coalition of pragmatists”, which will focus on problem-solving necessary for ensuring economic stability in the country. “If there are forces in Parliament which intend such unions, it should be welcomed”, she stated.

Thus Hanna Herman underlined that pre-term elections are superfluous waste of time and money. “Everything should be done to make political processes cheaper”, she summarized.
