Anatoliy Kinakh: The state is losing its economic patriotism

Demonstrating the next round of confrontation every day, the authorities are approaching the actions of “mutual annihilation”. This was stated by People’s Deputy, the Party of Regions parliamentary faction Vice-Chairman Anatoliy Kinakh.

“Ukraine as a state is losing one of its key features – economic patriotism, – he is convinced. – The matter concerns the items of protecting the national producer, promoting goods into the overseas market, increasing investments and so on”.

According to Anatoliy Kinakh, political instability within the country entails worsening of the Ukrainian economy’s competitiveness. In particular, the negative balance of foreign trade made up $9.8 bn over the first half of current year, which is 2.3 times above the similar period in 2007. “The country has been flooded by import given lack of substantial rise in export of both goods and services for the internal market. It is an extremely dangerous trend”, the Member of Parliament pointed out.

In Anatoliy Kinakh’s opinion, recent time is characterized by utterly inefficient and off-grade external economic policy. “Administrative revaluation of hryvnia, unilateral fight against inflation, which led to a more complicated access to credits and increase of their cost, abolition of tax bills of exchange, complication of VAT refunds – all these measures have only exacerbated the problems of the economic sector”, he noted.

The People’s Deputy underlined that in such situation Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine should show a consolidated position on economic issues at any cost. “As soon as possible we should pass the 2009 budget resolution, make the steps on enhancing economic relations with our strategic partners, including the Russian Federation, approve the Tax Code, accomplish the land reform, improve corporate affairs, fortify national protectionism”, he considers.
