Member of Parliament, the Party of Regions parliamentary faction member, Minister of Labor and Social Policy of the Opposition government Mykhailo Papiev stated in a comment to journalists that the Tymoshenko Cabinet of Ministers’ inactivity and deliberate non-approval of the 2009 budget will result in ruinous social and economic consequences and further worsening of living standard of the least protected Ukrainians.

According to him, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine’s statement that the December salaries for workers on a governmental pay-roll will be paid on the basis of a minimum wage of 605 hryvnias is a deliberate deception of citizens.

“Actually people will receive December salaries in January, and given failure to pass the 2009 budget in time, the monthly budgetary expenses on salaries will not exceed 1/12 of the amount of these expenses in 2008. Thus, from January 2009 the actual sum of the minimum wage will be 532.5 hryvnias”, MP noted.

“We saw another attempt of the government’s head to deceive poor citizens. Unless the 2009 state budget is introduced by the end of this week, the Party of Regions will demand urgent dismissal of so hideously unprofessional government distant from the ordinary citizens’ problems”, Mykhailo Papiev underlined.
